Once upon a time there was an Aussie family whose lives revolved completely around the happiness of their children...at any and all costs. One day, a young sprightly American girl came into their home to help the Stay-at-Home Mother out with the three kids (9 mos, 3 yrs, and 5 yrs old). She quickly found that she was not a good fit for this family. The children were quite lovely, however the parents had a much different philosophy on raising their children than the American nanny.
The nanny decided that she would keep her feelings to herself for awhile and look for a new job in her free time, then quit when the moment was right. Little did she know, if she were to stay much longer she would have more than likely gone mental.
After only three days of working with the children, the mother decided to have a chat with the nanny. She mentioned that she didn’t feel as though the nanny was connecting with the children quite as they had hoped. She proclaimed, “You speak with the children like they are real people!” As opposed to the dogs that they are?
The nanny was relieved a bit to hear the mother’s feelings and decided, she needed to get out of this household at a rapid speed! There were far too many expectations the mother wanted from her. The nanny was finding it hard to connect with the kids anyhow, with the mother around all the time. After a long week on the outskirts of Brisbane, the American nanny headed back to the big city to move on with her adventure.
She moved on, but will not forget the experience. Learning is a large part of living. And the young sprightly American Nanny has learned how not to raise children and has grown up just a little more.
On to the next adventure! The nanny has morphed into a door to door sales person. Next week she will do a bit of training and then hit the streets, to raise support for impoverished children all over the world.
Who knows where this next adventure will lead her!
