What's Been Going On

Its been awhile since my last update, so I figured I should write something to let you know what all has been going on down under with Dana.

Brisbane is still the city that I am living in and still looking for work, but am enjoying my time with my family of new friends.  I am trying hard not to worry too much about getting a job and just trusting that the right one will come in due time.  And I really don’t mind NOT working.  Its quite nice...other than the fact that I don’t have any money coming in.

Not having a job has left me open to do so many other fun things.  I have been keeping busy going to baby showers, birthday parties, BBQ’s, theatrical productions, movie nights, having tea with good friends, and of course learning a bit about the Aussie backyard humor.  If you ever get the chance, watch The Castle, its...interesting to say the least, but very funny.  It will paint a picture of what some Aussie’s are like, but just some of them.  Friday night I helped out some friends at a Mexican Dinner Night.  We rolled our own tortillas, salsa danced, everyone had to wear a mustache in some form or another, it was a pretty great night!

I have been very blessed to have so many good, giving and hospitable people in my life.  I am currently staying with my friends Liz and Dave which has been very nice!  They have been so good to me.  We cook a lot and experiment with new recipes.  I have also had a lot of other friends that have had me over for dinner or tea, given me rides (since I don’t have a car...oh how I do miss that some days...just some days though), and just been very good friends to me.  Free accommodation, free food, and free transport are three things that are very nice to have when you don’t have any cash flow coming in, but what’s even nicer is the people.  They have all been so nice and more than willing to help me out without expecting anything in return.  I only hope that some day I can return the favor or at least pass on the kindness and love to someone not expecting it!

I’ve been starting to meet with a little friend called Nina and am attempting to teach her some stuff about photography.  This is a blast!  She’s only six, but she has a pretty good eye and a big passion and really, that is about all you need!  I think I am going to be meeting with her about once a week.

I am really starting to think about how I can use my photography for something that’s bigger than me.  I don’t want to share too much at this point because its all just in the thinking stages, but if you think of it please pray that things would begin to come together and that I could use my mad skills to make an impact.

That’s about all that is going on with me right now.  Just enjoying life, friends and scenery in the land down under!

Love and miss you all :o)

  1. Good to hear of the "family" you've found down under. Pray you find clarity and peace in regards to how you put your gifts into practice for the service of others.
